‘Start with a skein’ SWAP: Pack 3

The third pack in the SWAP consists of two garments that use the same colour scheme as the first two packs and tie them together.

Pack 1 was off-white, with the print in the top including blue and browns.

Pack 2 was mainly blue, but the shorts also had a dash of tan.

So this pack features shades of off-white, mid-brown and blue with a orange highlights.  Orange will feature in the final pack.

Progress is continuing with the scarf.  After a few stuff-ups ‘learning experiences’, I’ve started weaving.

Rayon Print Shirt

Lekala 4002

The pattern is Lekala 4002.  It has a side panel and bust darts for the shaping.  I’m not sure if it is the style or just my fitting, but each time I make as top with side panels, it turns out boxy through the waist.

I like the shoulder yoke and the piecing on the sleeves and I think it would be great on a plain fabric to really show the seaming off.  The bows on the sleeves were omitted as they aren’t really my thing.

I thought the print in this fabric was perfect for the SWAP.  It will go with so many things.  Laying out the fabric took quite a while as I wanted to get the print design to match at the centre front and centre back.  This meant I only had just enough fabric for the rest of the shirt, and had to cut the yoke lining out of some plain fabric.

Canvas Jeans

I was lucky enough to score some really nice canvas fabric.  It is a bit lighter in weight and more supple than the other canvas weaves I’ve seen.  The downside was that there was only 2.3m left on the roll.  Ideally I would have liked some extra to stash for a rainy day.  But, with a careful layout, I was able to get a pair of jeans and a shorts from it.  The shorts are part of the hiking wardrobe which I’ll cover in a later post.

Yep, the pattern is my old faithful jeans pattern.  The same one that I used for the linen jeans in Pack 2.

And some photos of how this pack adds to the wardrobe…
